One of a kind: Maserati « Ghibli Cup » engine coffee table
Built on commission: Maserati engine coffee table.
This particular unit comes from one of the « Ghibli Open Cup » cars, built in the mid nineties. It is unclear how many cars were produced, but it is estimated that there were around 60 in all, with a further 40 to 60 reserve engines in stock.
This engine displaces 1990cc, in the form of a 90° V6, quad-cam setup and 4 valves per cylinder. It develops a whopping 330bhp @ 7000 rpm, with a maximum torque of 275lbs-ft @ 4250 rpm.
That’s a massive 165bhp per liter, which was the largest power output per liter of any production car in the world, back in 1995.
Such power was achieved thanks to a pair of the newly developed water-cooled, low-friction ball bearing turbocompressors fed by large intercoolers, revised engine management and straight-through exhaust.
What we have here, is most definitely THE only Masearti Ghibli Open Cup table in the World…
Here is a link to an interesting read about the short « Open Cup » story.
And a link to a short clip of the build… It just goes to show that every single part of this table has been made to measure. Truly one of a kind…
